Q3.) Answer the following questions:-

1.) What is the use of the Motion blocks?

Ans :- Motion blocks consists of the blocks which are much helpful in controlling the sprite’s movement. Generally, Scratch offers 16 Motion blocks.

2.) What do you mean by a Repeat Block?

Ans :- The script that is written in the Repeat block will be repeated by many number of times. The bocks can be moved or turn within the repeat blocks which avoids the work of scripting. The blocks can be continuously repeated when we write the script in the Forever block. Once the forever block is been activated, until we click on Stop All button, the repetition does not stop.

3.) What do you mean by a Look Block?

Ans :- In the Look Block, there is existence of blocks which are much helpful in changing the appearance of the sprite and the stage. Scratch offers 17 blocks in Look blocks.

4.) What is a Sensing Block?

Ans :- In this Block, there is presence of blocks that senses the mouse, keyboard, and other sprites on the stage. There are overall 17 sensing blocks in Scratch.

5.) What is a Sound Block?

Ans :-In the Scratch is also availability of a sound gallery from which we can import any sound from it by clicking on the import button that is available in the sound tab. If incase, we are not with the built in sound from the sound gallery, then we can record our own sound by making a click on the Record button. If we make use of the blocks from the Sound blocks in the script, then we can give/add sounds to the animations. In Scratch, you get 13 sound blocks. You can also download the sound from the net. Mp3 format sound files can be read or viewed by Scratch.

6.) What is a Control block?

Ans :- In this blocks, there is presence of blocks which are helpful in controlling a script. In Scratch there are overall 16 control blocks.


Q4.) Answer the following questions :-

1.) What is a Variable Block? Write down the steps for making a variable?

Ans :- Whenever if incase the project needs/is required to store or remember the values such as the scores in a game etc at that time Variables are been made used of. The steps for making a variable are as follows :-

  • Make a click on the variables block .

  • Then click on the block as make variable.

  • Enter the name for the variable.

  • After this process, click on Ok button.

The name which we have given to the variable gets appeared in the Block Palette along with the other blocks.

2.) What do you mean by a Pen Block?

Ans :- Here in this Pen block, there are some blocks with whose help the sprite becomes the writing instrument. By using this block, we can change the pen’s colour, shade and size. In Scratch, there is presence of 11 Pen blocks.

3.) Write a note on Operators block?

Ans :- In the Operators blocks, there are operators that contains blocks are :-

  • Arithmetic Operators :-In this operators there are blocks related to addition (+), subtraction (-), division (/) and multiplication (*).

  • Relational operators :- In this operators there are blocks which are in relations like greater than (<), less than (>), and is equal to (=).

  • Boolean operators :- (and, or,not)In Scratch there are 17 operators block.

4.) Write down the script for adding the animation to the background in the Scratch for the following example.

Friend’s Forever

It’s Winnie’s birthday and he wanted and he wanted to celebrate it with his friends. He went into the park to call his friends to the party, but he could not find any friend there. So, he went to the basketball court, but there also he could not find any of his friends. At last he got tried of searching his friends back home. To his surprise, all his friends were gathered there for a surprise birthday party planned by them. He danced with joy.

Ans :- In the above story, Winnie want to the park, basketball court and his home in search of his friends. In that case, there is a need of showing three backgrounds and need to write down the script for it.

Now import three suitable backgrounds from the background gallery.

  • For writing the script, click on the script tab.

  • Script for Winnie when he went to the park

  • Script for the Winnie when he came back to his home

(a) State the difference between foreground color and background color

Ans :- The foreground color is used for adding paint, fill or strokes whereas background color is made used for making gradients and fill in the erased areas. The default color of foreground color is black whereas the background color is white.

(b) What is Image Editing Tools?

Ans :- Image Editing Tools are the number of tools which are only used for image editing, but one should make sure that before editing any image or its part, it is necessary to select the image or its part. Image Editing tools are divided into two parts which are Area Selection Tool and Color Selection Tool.

(c) What is the use of Bucket Fill tool?

Ans :- The Bucket Fill tool is used for fill the selected par of the image/picture with the foreground color. But if incase you want to fill with the background color then one must press CTRL key from the keyboard and then clicking inside the selected portion of the image/picture.

(d) What do you mean by Color selection tool? Explain the different types of color selection tools?

Ans :- The color selection used for selecting the areas of the images which are based on the color values. There are two types of color selection tools which are :-

Fuzzy selection tool – By using this tool, we can select the adjacent areas of images which are based on color values. For applying color with the help of Fuzzy selection tool is one has to select the tool and click on the color to select.

Select by color tool – This tools is used for making the selection for the areas of the image those are based on color values in the whole image. For applying color with the help of Select by color tool is one has to select the tool and click on the color to select.

(f) Explain functionality of the following-

Ans.

(i) Rectangle Selection Tool: - the Rectangle Selection tool is designed to select rectangular regions of the active layer. It the most basic of the selection tools, and very commonly used.

(ii) Oval/Ellipse Selection Tool: - The oval Selection tool is used to select circular and elliptical regions from an image.

(iii) Free Selection Tool:- The Free Selection tool or Lasso, lets you select a drawing it free-hand with the pointer, while holding down the left mouse button. When you release the mouse button, the selection is closed by connecting the current pointer location to the start location with a straight line.

(iv) Text Tool:- The Text tool places text into an image. You can write your text directly on the canvas. It appears on the canvas in a rectangular frame.

(g) Write a note on GIMP

Ans :-GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a free open software which is mostly used for image editing. Image editing consists of photo retouching, resizing, cropping etc. It can be also used in simple paint programs. In the year 1996, the first version of GIMP 0.54 was been released which as written by Peter Mattis and Spencer Kimbell. But in the year 1998, the latest version GIMP 1.0 was been released and in 2012, the latest stable version GIMP 2.8 was been released.

(h) State the difference between Free Select tool and Scissor Select Tool.

(i) Free Select Tool :- If incase we need to do the selection of image free handly, then we can make use of this option which means we can select the picture or image as per our choice. Selection not done in shapes like in circle, rectangle, square etc. For doing free hand selection, one has to select the tool, and then click and drag to draw the shape to be selected. Once done doing selection, to complete it now one has to click at the first point or press the Enter key from the keyboard.

(ii) Scissors Select Tool :-With the help of this tool, we can select a region defined by strong color changes at the edges. This tool performs the work of easily detection of the edges and the selects the shape. Just we need to click at the various ends/edges of the shape. To finish the selection, we just need to click back at the first point or press Enter key from the keyboard.

(i) Write down the steps of how to use Text tool in GIMP

Ans :- If we want to write any thing in the image, then we can perform such task with the help of this too. The steps for using this Text tool are as follows :-

Select the Text tool option.

Now select the color of your choice, that you wish to write the text in the image in.

Select the font and font size for the text that is to inserted.

Take your arrow pointer in the document and make a click into it, and then type the text.

(j) What do you mean by Cropping an Image. Explain the steps.

Ans :- Cropping an image means removing or deleting of unwanted, unnecessary, un useful parts from the image. We can crop an image by making use of the Crop too or the Selection tool. The steps for cropping an image are as followed :-

-->Open the image.

-->From the tools panel select the Crop tool or Select Tools -->Transform Tools

-->Crops.

The shape in the cursor will change.

Click on the area and drag it until where you want to retain .

The area which is to be cropped gets highlighted. If we want we can modify the selection like increase it or decrease it (by clicking at the side of the corner handles and dragging them) as if the selection remains active.

Now press the Enter key from the keyboard for cropping.

If you don’t want to crop then you may press the Esc key from the keyboard.
